London Museum, UK

The London Museum project will relocate the museum from London Wall to West Smithfield, creating a new, more spacious museum that revitalises two historic market structures, while the existing market continues operating in the adjacent buildings.

The museum aims to be a ’must see’ destination for both Londoners and tourists, and will service over 2.25 million visitors per year.

Plan A’s Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinated the inputs of a large consultancy team of 33 disciplines, including an architectural team comprised of three practices.
  • Defined a clear split of scope/responsibilities across the architectural team.
  • Change management, particularly surrounding the gradual release of survey information on the existing buildings and impact that had on the design process.
  • Prepared detailed, coordinated design programmes to respond to the complex construction phasing strategy associated with working with the existing buildings on site.
