Liveable City Biannual Conference – May 2024

The Liveable City biannual conference took place in London last Wednesday, at the Arne Jacobsen designed Danish Embassy. Plan A Consultant’s Technical Director Simon England attended, finding the range of speakers enlightening. The panel included developers, local government, and architects, who showcased exemplary projects in London and beyond.

There was a consensus amongst participants on the objectives of a post-Covid workspace and the necessity for broader placemaking strategies to support these goals. As design managers working on mixed-use masterplans and cultural buildings that enrich cities, this message resonated strongly with us.

Henning Larsen Design Director Viggo Haremst emphasised the importance of vibrant, sustainable, and resilient cities, also highlighting lessons from the Higher Education sector on making workplaces more social and collaborative. Foster + Partners’ Grant Brooker explained what they had learnt from working in Denmark, including the advantageous regulations that help support the way office environments are planned around users there.

We look forward to next year’s event.
