Happy World Theatre Day

Theatres and performing arts venues represent some of the most technically demanding building typologies in the world. The intricate integration of acoustic engineering, specialist stage technology, back-of-house logistics, and exceptional audience experience demands precise coordination across large, multidisciplinary design teams. Getting this complexity right requires not only technical understanding but disciplined design management from the earliest stages of a project.

Plan A Consultants has developed significant expertise in delivering Design Management services for major performing arts projects internationally, across both new build and refurbishment schemes. In the UK, this includes Design Management support on the Victoria Palace Theatre in London through RIBA Stage 5, and the historic Theatre Royal Drury Lane through Stages 3 and 4 – two of London’s celebrated theatrical venues.

This domestic experience is complemented by our international portfolio. In Saudi Arabia, Plan A has been engaged on two of the most significant new cultural developments in the region – Jeddah Opera House and the Royal Diriyah Opera House. On the Royal Diriyah Opera House, Plan A supported the architect from Stage 2 through to Stage 4, managing the design process through development and into tender, ensuring the project was delivered with the coordination and rigour these landmark schemes demand.

Our portfolio of projects demonstrates Plan A’s breadth of experience across the full design lifecycle of performing arts venues and showcases our ability to navigate the unique challenges of theatre design, supporting creative teams in producing world-class cultural buildings that deliver an extraordinary experience.
