In November 2022, we started our journey to open a Plan A Consultants office in Cape Town, South Africa. 1 year and 3 months later, we are pleased to say that we now have a team of 7 talented Design Managers working out of our Woodstock Studios office space!
Our decision to open a new office in Cape Town was driven by several factors: Our expanding project pipeline, the high-quality of skills and resources that can be found in the South African recruitment market, as well as the time-zone advantage that could be provided to projects in regions such as the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
The Cape Town team collaborates closely with our London office, ensuring the robust delivery of Design Management services across many of our ongoing projects. As we continue along this journey, the importance of cultural and team integration has not gone unnoticed. We place great value on staff wellbeing, fulfilment and growth and have learnt lessons along the way on how best to share knowledge and expertise with a remote team.
Interactions between the Cape Town and London teams have provided valuable insights into the cultural distinctions that enrich our collaboration. The London pub scene transitions to leisurely Cape Town beach walks. The quintessential British Sunday roast meets the traditional South African braai. Not forgetting the contrasting landscapes and attire that mirror the seasonal shifts between the Northern and Southern Hemispheres on our daily Teams calls!
